Propel Orthodontics Files Antitrust Lawsuit Against OrthoAccel Technologies

Propel Orthodontics recently filed an antitrust lawsuit against OrthoAccel Technologies.

The suit alleges OrthoAccel is attempting to maintain a monopoly, according to a press release, impacting about 45,000 orthodontists and general dentists who provide orthodontic services in the U.S.

The suit comes after OrthoAccel reportedly served orthodontists with subpoenas and “cease and desist” letters for selling Propel products. The suit also alleges OrthoAccel seeks to launch an exclusionary contracting campaign where OrthoAccel agrees to provide discounts to orthodontists and dentists in exchange for the promise they will not purchase products from any competitor.

Propel also has asserted counterclaims for false advertising. Propel also claims OrthoAccel has suppressed a self-commissioned study regarding its AcceleDent Aura product, which is a vibration device used for 20 minutes a day using 30 Hertz of vibration.
