New Dental Product: OralChroma from FIS Inc.

FIS Inc. plans to release OralChroma, an advanced halitosis measuring device, at this year’s CDA Presents Anaheim.

The compact device provides quick, precise in-office analysis of the three volatile sulfur compounds that cause 99 percent of halitosis cases, which are Hydrogen Sulfide, Methyl Mercaptan and Dimethyl Sulfide, according to a press release.

OralChroma differentiates each of the three major components of oral malodor rather than measuring a patient’s overall breath level. This gives dental professionals insight into factors that affect breath, enabling them to plan treatment based on evidence.

Patients breath into a disposable syringe used to inject the breath sample into an inlet port. The analysis process begins automatically. In four minutes, the Data Manager Software displays the three readings and judgement value against threshold value on a USB-connected computer screen.

The software makes it easy to store and measure patient data, enabling them to see treatment progress and status in chronological order.
