Malware Detected on 2016 ADA CDT Manual Flash Drives

Malware was recently detected on flash drives that contain the electronic version of the American Dental Association’s 2016 CDT manual.

The ADA is asking members who haven’t used the flash drive to throw it away, according to a report published on the Krebs On Security blog, however computer security experts recommend destroying infected or possibly infected USB drives.

The problem with the drives was first noticed on the DSL Reports Security Forum, where a dentist expressed concern about the integrity of the USB drive the ADA mailed to members.

Not all of the flash drives contained the Malware, but the problem could go undetected by some virus scanners. Those who want an electronic version of the manual can download the PDF here. Log in using your user name and password. You’ll be directed to the page where you can download the digital edition of the 2016 CDT manual.

Anyone who has trouble downloading the manual can call the ADA at 800-947-4746.
