BIOLASE’s WaterLase iPlus 2.0 dental laser now features REPAIR Implant, a protocol designed to help clinicians manage peri-implantitis.
The company first introduced its REPAIR protocol for periodontitis in 2014, according to a press release, and leveraged that advancement to develop REPAIR Implant. The WaterLase iPlus 2.0 now provides pre-programmed settings and step-by-step applications for more than 50 procedures and clinical indications, and offers a minimally invasive alternative to traditional treatment of peri-implantitis and peri-mucositis.
The closed flap protocol can be used to treat early peri-implantitis, as well as site-specific and whole-mouth cases. It offers easy access and won’t harm the implant service, while the laser’s photoacoustic properties effectively debride the implant surface.
The WaterLase 2.0 features proprietary and patented Radial Firing Perio Tips that emit a corona of laser energy to manage infection, necrosed tissue, anaerobes and other material compromising the implant surface and surrounding periodontal structures.
