Straumann Teams with Patterson, Spear to Bring Dental Implants to GPs

In an effort to increase access to dental implants for patients and to encourage more general practitioners to get involved with implant cases, Straumann USA has formed a new partnership with Patterson Dental and Spear Education.

Straumann is undertaking this new effort that includes dental implant education and the launch of the Straumann One implant package in the U.S. because of data showing general dentists are getting more involved with implants but are having lower rates of success than specialists, according to a press release. This new partnership will include new implant education programs via Spear Education as well as the launch of the Straumann One system which includes all the components needed for simple dental implant indications in an easy-to-use kit. The Straumann One system will be available via Patterson Dental.

The educational programs are aimed at fostering better communication between specialists, dental lab technicians and general dentists in order to improve patient outcomes through coordinated treatment plans and better identification of which implant cases can be handled in a general practice and which require the attention of a specialist. The interdisciplinary education program at Spear will be taught by implant specialists, and every participating general dentist will be able to develop a relationship with a specialist during and after the courses.
