While the product is not yet commercially available, Sonendo has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for the second generation of its Multisonic Ultracleaning System for minimally invasive root canal therapy.
The technology uses multiple sound wavelengths to clean an entire root canal system. With the FDA approval, the company plans to launch its new technology commercially during 2014, according to a press release. In the release Sonendo CEO Bjarne Bergheim said the company hopes the technology can transform endodontics by improving both clinical quality and practice performance.
