Created as an alternative to traditional dental instrument sharpening stones, Diamond Sharpening Cards from Hu-Friedy are stainless steel with one side coated with a continuous surface of small, industrial diamonds.
The flat cards are designed to resist grooves or ditches, and at the approximate size of a credit card, the sharpening cards can easily fit into instrument cases or sterilization pouches, making it simple to keep a sharpening card with every procedure set-up, according to a press release. Used with the same technique as sharpening stones, the cards are available in extra fine, fine and medium grits. They work without the need for oil and can be used wet or dry.
