Straumann Invests in Smaller Implant Companies Medentika and Createch

In a pair of deals announced today, Straumann has purchased a 51% stake in Medentika Implant and a 30% stake in Createch Medical.

Both deals are a part of Straumann’s efforts to become a global leader in the “value” segment of the global tooth replacement marketplace, and like the company’s previous investment in Neodent, both Medentika and Createch will continue to operate as independent brands, according to a press release. Both companies are involved in dental implants in the European market.

The stake in Medentika was purchased for 32 million Euros. The German company with a staff of 37 had revenues of 11 million Euros in 2012 and is focused on economical dental prosthetics compatible with leading dental implant and CAD/CAM systems. Financial terms of the Createch deal were not disclosed, but the Spanish dental implant company employs 30 people and focuses on innovative implant-borne prosthetics.
