Featuring a distinct blade symmetry to easily cut through non-precious alloys and gold, the Komet H35L crown cutter from Komet USA was designed to work with the modern crown alloys in use today.
The tungsten-carbide cutter features a tip-transversing blade to penetrate the crown and a slim neck for use along the entire length of its working portion, according to a press release. Chips spaces in the bur are designed to reduce heat while cutting.
The H35L crown cutter joins Komet USA’s H4MCL which is for cutting PFMs and harder metal crowns, and the 4ZR which is for cutting all-ceramic crowns including those fabricated from zirconia.

Rock Hill, S.C. — The Komet® H35L crown cutter features a special blade symmetry that cuts through non-precious alloys and gold with minimal effort. Its tip-transversing blade facilitates penetration into the metal crown, and the instrument’s slim neck permits use along the entire length of the working portion. Effective chip spaces reduce heat generation during operation.
The timesaving tungsten-carbide crown cutter demonstrates outstanding durability and joins the Komet® team of crown cutters engineered and produced to address the unique requirements of modern crown materials.
In addition to the H35L crown cutter, the team line-up includes the Komet® H4MCL, which is recommended for cutting PFM and hard-metal crowns. The H4MCL carbide facilitates cutting through ceramic veneering and the underlying metal—without the need to change instruments. The third member of the team, the Komet® 4ZR, efficiently cuts all-ceramic crowns, including those fabricated of exceptionally hard materials such as zirconium oxide or other high-strength pressed ceramics.
