Hu-Friedy Launches a Pair of Gracey Contests to Celebrate 100 Years of Dental Hygiene

To celebrate 100 years of dental hygiene and that the invention of Gracey curettes will be featured as a significant event in dental hygiene history at the 2013 American Dental Hygienists’ Association Annual Meeting, Hu-Friedy will hold a pair of Gracey themed contests this spring.

Invented in 1945 by Dr. Clayton Gracey in partnership with Hu-Friedy founder Hugo Friedman, the Gracey curette has been a key part of dental hygiene training and is still a go to instrument in the operatory for more than 65 years, according to a press release. The two contests celebrating the Gracey curette are the Oldest Gracey contest and the Gracey Story contest.

To enter the Oldest Gracey contest, simply send in your oldest Gracey curette to Hu-Friedy. The company will use laser markings on the instruments to determine which is the oldest. The winner will receive a $100 gift card. Entries to the Gracey Story contest are 500 word or shorter essays about a personal experience with Gracey curettes. The winning entry will receive his or her choice of 5 EverEdge Gracey curettes.

Both winners will be included in Hu-Friedy’s display at the ADHA meeting as well as on the Friends of Hu-Friedy website. Contest entries will be accepted through April 29, 2013. For more details or to enter, visit www.Hu-Friedy.com/gracey-contest.
