Anesthetic buffering agents can make injectable anesthesia easier on patients, by making the injection more comfortable without decreasing the effectiveness of the anesthetic. These buffering agents can be a solution of sodium bicarbonate which mixes with lidocaine with epinephrine anesthetics to buffer the pH of the solution prior to injection.
