Interproximal cleaning aids make it easier for patients to clean the spaces between their teeth. These devices can take a number of forms, from pre-made flossers, to small brushes, to small picks. In all cases, they are designed to gain access to the tight spaces between a patient's teeth, allowing them to better care for their teeth and gums. These aids can be especially helpful for patients with orthodontic devices, removable partials, bridges, or other dental devices and restorations. It's a good idea to have some interproximal cleaning aids on hand to provide to patients who can use them, as well as a recommendation for an over-the-counter option.
