Oral Rinses

Commonly called mouthwash, oral rinses are a regular part of the home care routine for many patients. Most oral rinses are antibacterial and they are designed to help patients fight gingivitis and periodontal problems. While many mouthwashes are available over the counter, professional strength rinses are available for patients who need a more intense hygiene program. Some rinses contain alcohol and many of the prescription rinses feature chlorhexidine. It’s a good idea to be ready to recommend an oral rinse patients can purchase themselves as well as to have a go to prescription strength rinse for those patients who need it.
