Dental Cone Beam Imaging

Dental cone beam imaging systems capture and create detailed 3D digital models of a patient’s anatomy. Also called cone beam 3D imaging or cone beam computer tomography (CBCT), these imaging systems are among the fastest growing technologies in the dental industry and are quickly becoming a standard of care for dental implant treatment planning. This 3D imaging technology also is useful for orthodontics, endodontics, dental sleep medicine, airway management and a range of other clinical imaging needs. Designed with limiting patient exposure to radiation as much as possible, the newest cone beam systems work with far lower radiation doses and offer small fields of view to capture data from just the desired area of anatomy. Because cone beam scans must be evaluated for any anatomic anomalies, it is a good idea to make sure the cone beam vendor you choose includes clinical training for your staff to cover both the unit and image processing software.
