Los Altos in 1969. Ken grew up in Los Altos, attended Homestead High School and received his Bachelors of Science from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. He went on to pursue a Masters of Public Health degree from UC Berkeley prior to his dental education at the University of the Pacific. He and his wife Maria returned to Los Altos where Ken joined his father's general dental practice, becoming the third generation of Schweifler dentists.

Ken graduated near the top of his dental class and upon graduation, he was awarded the Ethics and Professionalism Award by the San Francisco Dental Society in recognition of his qualities of ethics, integrity, compassion, and dedication to the profession.
