These absorbent sponges are shaped to be placed on a patient's cheek where they can absorb saliva and other fluids to keep a working area dry. These pads also can be used extraorally for a number of purposes. Woven and non-woven cotton materials are used to make dental gauze sponges, and other compositions of absorbent materials. Be sure to keep a supply of gauze sponges on hand.
