 New Dental Products: Wieland Digital Dentures and Zenotec select ion Mill from Ivoclar Vivadent

At the 2015 International Dental Show, Ivoclar Vivadent announced a range of enhancements to its Wieland digital milling product portfolio including the new Zenotec select ion mill and a new Wieland Digital Denture workflow.

Featuring an innovative ionization system that directs ionized air onto the tools and materials during fabrication, the Zenotec select ion mill is designed to mill acrylic materials without building up a static charge, according to a press release. Like other Zenotec select mills, the ion features an 8-disc material changer and automatic tool management.

The new mill is also a core part of the Wieland Digital Denture workflow which allows for CAD/CAM design and production of removable prosthetics. The workflow begins with specific impressions in the clinic which are digitized, and then the denture is designed in a module of 3Shape’s CAD software. The tooth library includes sample setups using digital versions of Ivoclar Vivadent and Candulor denture teeth. The denture base is then milled on the Zenotec select ion mill from IvoBase CAD PMMA material which is available in several shades, before the teeth are set and the denture finished.

Other innovations from the Wieland brand debuting at the IDS include a digital workflow for IPS e.max Press cases, and a new portfolio of Weiland Zenotec tools. The e.max Press workflow is a module for 3Shape’s software that allows for efficient design of press crowns that can be milled from ProArt Wax discs. The new tool systems are designed to match the materials designed specifically for the Zenotec mills, with specialized tooling available for zirconia, e.max, denture materials and more.
