Dentsply Sirona Announces Updates to Connect and CEREC Software

Dentsply Sirona recently released updated Connect and CEREC Software, along with enhanced firmware for the Primescan intraoral scanner.

The updates support a higher level of performance for Primescan and CEREC Primemill, according to a press release.

CEREC Software 5.2 provides CEREC users with new and improved functionalities and better performance, while a new visualization step in the model process enhances patient communication.

Through the new software, CEREC Primemill users now have access to Fast Milling mode for crowns made of IPS e.max® CAD  from Ivoclar Vivadent. Posterior and anterior crowns, direct screw-retained crowns, inlays and veneers can now regularly be produced using the Extra Fine grinding mode to create smooth, detailed restorations.

The entire CEREC Guide workflow also has undergone improvements, with "Full Range Dynamic Occlusion" mode introduced for the articulation calculation. This includes a wider range of lower jaw movement in the calculations.

The software update also opens new possibilities in edentulous scanning. Based on the validation of the Atlantis IO FLO-S scanbody, Primescan is now reportedly the first scanner validated for a full digital workflow for full arch fixed implant restorations with Atlantis suprastructures. Dental technicians order the suprastructures from the company’s Atlantis design and manufacturing sites around the world.

Primary impression taking within the Digital Denture workflow to create individual, customized impression trays can now be performed with Primescan. This offers patients a more comfortable start to treatment.

With the updated firmware for Primescan, the intraoral scanner is twice as fast, provides a higher-performance scanning experience and gives users access to new workflows.

Primescan’s Connect software update brings new possibilities to implant workflows. Dentists can now perform long span implant supported bridges with Primescan, for example, “all on 4” or “all on 6” cases, a new indication for practitioners working with Connect Software.
