Planmeca recently released the Planmeca PlanMill 50 S milling unit.
The five-axis mill offers wet or dry processing, according to the company website. It can handle discs or blocks and is equipped with a high-speed spindle and an automatic changer for 12 tools.
The mill is designed for high-quality restorations and prosthetics, including crown and bridge designs, wax-ups, removable partials and complete dentures.
A range of materials can be used with the mill, such as zirconia, IPS e.max, glass ceramics and temporary materials.
The mill offers a measurement and tool check after each processing step and features an integrated PC with touchscreen. The open platform allows clinicians to import, export and edit various file formats without restrictions or workarounds.
The company also introduced Planmeca PlanCAD Premium software. Through the software, clinicians can use a built-in wizard or create a customized workflow. Advanced, user-friendly tools make it easy to create and modify designs for a wide range of CAD/CAM indications including crown and bridge designs, inlays, onlays, veneers and wax-ups. Easy importing and exporting allows clinicians to share with external partners.
Advanced tools and capabilities are available and can be added to the software once users are ready.
