New Dental Product: CS ScanFlow Software from Carestream Dental

Carestream Dental recently released CS ScanFlow software for its intraoral scanner product line.

The software features a new user interface design that makes it possible to navigate among different workflows from one scan to build a baseline that evolves over time. Powered by advanced algorithms, the easy-to-use software offers faster dataset processing and guides users through a four-step process: Scan, Check, Adapt, Export.

During the scan process, there is no need to select an application. Users can scan the patient and then determine next steps. They can use previous scans and add or remove detail with a cutting tool to create a new scan. This feature is well suited for pre-operative and post-operative scans to reduce scanning time and increase patient comfort.

Once a scan is captured, the software automatically evaluates the impression based on the selected criteria. This ensures users have captured all the details they need. From there, users can select one of three processing options: low, standard and high.

Users also have more control to adapt the scan for the next stage of treatment, which might mean cleaning the digital model or adding a base for a streamlined 3D printing experience.

With the one-click export option, there’s no need to exit the software. Users can export or transfer files after processing. The software’s open file format makes it possible for practices to use the scanner as a standalone solution that has the ability to work with validated software partners, labs and appliance, or to pair it with the CS 3100 milling system and exocad ChairsideCAD software for in-house restorations.

All the features included in the company’s current intraoral scanning acquisition software are available with CS ScanFlow, such as live scanning feedback arrows that recommend the ideal direction to scan. It also offers accurate semi-automatic bite registration and multiple capture points, including anterior and posterior.

The hybrid scan workflow can merge the digital scan and a conventional impression scan into a single digital file. This is helpful for practitioners challenged by deep margin lines or excessive bleeding, and is a feature available for the restorative workflow and the implant-borne restorative workflow.

Practices also can use a single scan to obtain up to three different bit registrations (normal, open and protruded) to manufacture sleep devices.

CS ScanFlow is offered with the CS 3700 intraoral scanner and as an optional configuration for the CS 3600.
