3Shape Scan Bodies Are Now Available for Purchase

3Shape scan bodies, which are part of the 3Shape digital workflow, are now available for purchase.

The workflow includes digital impressions from the 3Shape TRIOS intraoral scanner, treatment planning through 3Shape Implant Studio, and the scan bodies, which are used to determine implant placement, according to a press release. Final restorations are then designed with 3Shape Dental System.

The scan bodies are made for all major implant systems. Each scan body contains a unique ID code that the TRIOS reads when scanning to identify the implant system. This feature will be available as a software upgrade in early 2018. 3Shape desktop scanners will be able to read the unique ID code as well, in an upcoming upgrade.

The data is embedded in the order form along with the scans that are sent to the lab. This eliminates confusion, as the doctor’s chosen implant system is clearly identified.

Scan bodies are made from durable titanium, making them visible to x-rays. This enables professionals to verify the correct fit to the implant. They are autoclavable and can be re-used up to 100 times.

3Shape scan bodies are usable for both intraoral scanning and in dental models with the original implant analogs. No special analogs or replicas are needed.
