Straumann Enters into Broad Distribution Agreements with 3Shape and Rapid Shape

Straumann recently entered into broad distribution agreements with 3Shape and Rapid Shape.

Through the agreements, Straumann will supply 3Shape dental scanner solutions and Rapid Shape 3D printers to dental practices and laboratories as part of the company’s digital workflow for tooth replacement, according to a press release.

3Shape’s TRIOS 3 intraoral scanners feature a full-color package that includes digital shade measurement and an integrated intraoral camera. An upgradable lower-priced monochrome version is also available. Combining 3Shape TRIOS 3 and Straumann’s compact milling machine made by Amann Girrbach makes it possible to offer a quality chairside solution for producing dental prosthetics.

Rapid Shape 3D printers enable labs to quickly and efficiently produce temporary prosthetic restorations, models and drill templates in certified precision for guided surgery. Partial frameworks, bite splints and ortho models also can be produced. The compact, reliable printers are easy to operate and can print drill templates or temporaries in about 16 minutes. The printers also feature an open system approach, which allows users to choose from a variety of materials from different suppliers. Straumann will sell the printers under its own brand, seamlessly connecting into its CARES digital workflow.

Both distribution agreements are non-exclusive. The agreement with Rapid Shape is worldwide, while the agreement with 3Shape covers Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Germany, Holland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
