Carestream Dental recently launched CS Connect, an online portal that makes it easy for doctors to share digital impressions with labs.
Doctors can quickly transfer .STL and DICOM files without any proprietary constraints, allowing the lab to use the CAD software that best suits its needs, according to a press release.
CS Connect is integrated directly with Carestream Dental’s Imaging Software, so there’s no need to launch additional applications such as email or file transfer software to streamline data sharing. The submission process is triggered directly from the patient’s chart in the imaging software, ensuring the doctor sends the correct data set.
DICOM and open .STL data are available for download within minutes, allowing for instant verification of data sets by the lab when needed. The doctor and the lab can exchange feedback while the patient is still in the chair. The doctor can provide details about the margin line, texture and indication where necessary within the DICOM files.
The full HD 3D digital impressions provide realistic views of the patient’s dentition, offering additional efficiency to the lab and improving communication. The doctor can also upload additional supporting digital images and files to provide further direction to the lab.
Labs can create customized request forms that summarize the type of work and options they offer as services. These forms, sent automatically, help prevent dentists from requesting a service the lab doesn’t provide while also streamlining the practice’s workflow.
CS Connect offers 14 days of cloud storage for every uploaded data set. The lab can retrieve the data any time within 14 days of upload.
