New Dental Product: Galaxy BioMill CAD/CAM System from BIOLASE

A complete chairside digital dentistry solution, the Galaxy BioMill CAD/CAM System from BIOLASE will officially debut at the Greater New York Dental Meeting Nov. 29 – Dec. 4.

Developed by BIOLASE in partnership with German CAD/CAM innovator imes-icore GmbH, the Galaxy BioMill system includes the 3Shape TRIOS digital impression scanner and will allow dental practices to scan, design, mill and finish crowns, inlays, onlays and veneers in a single appointment, according to a press release. The digital impression scans captured buy the TRIOS scanner are processed by the system’s CAD/CAM software and then sent to the imes-icore-designed BioMill for fabrication from a range of CAD/CAM materials.

Capable of both wet and dry milling, the BioMill can accept any CAD/CAM block up to 60 mm in length. It also features a 6 tool changer and 4-axis milling with an accuracy of 10 microns. As an open architecture CAD/CAM solution the Galaxy BioMill is compatible with other digital impression systems such as Align’s iTero and 3M ESPE’s True Definition Scanner.

With the launch of the Galaxy BioMill CAD/CAM system, BIOLASE is positioning itself as a total technology solution. The company will be a source for hard- and soft-tissue dental lasers, 3D cone beam systems, intraoral x-ray sensors and CAD/CAM solutions.
