Introducing our new ContacEZ Narrow Strips, the Overhang Cutter & Cleaner
Copper Narrow Strip - The Overhang Cleaner (Width: 2.5mm, Thickness: 0.06mm, Single-Sided Extra-Fine Diamond).
Blue Narrow Strip - The Overhang Cutter (Width: 2.5mm, Thickness: 0.07mm, Serrated).
Insert these strips into the sub-gingival area of the interproximal space where overhangs remain after composite fillings. The thin, narrow strips will cut and clean out overhangs and polish the surface to restore a natural finish.
Overhanging dental restorations contribute to gingival inflammation due to the retentive capacity for bacterial plaque, which can result in bone loss. The severity of the bone loss is directly related to the severity of the overhang. It is critically important, therefore, to remove the overhangs. ContacEZ Narrow Strips will clean out the remains of overhangs and polish the restorations in the subgingival area.
When dentists complete composite fillings, they slightly overfill the cavity and carve it out to make sure that the filling is fully hardened to the margin. When the overfill is in the interproximal space, especially under the gingival tissue, it is not visible and difficult to reach. Long, two-handed strips are very difficult to use and hard to get into the sub-gingival area at the right angle to clean out overhangs. They also easily cut patients' gingival tissue and lips. ContacEZ Narrow Strips are flexible to reach the difficult angles, and feature central openings for increased visual perception.
Insert the ContacEZ Blue Narrow Strip into the sub-gingival area where the overhang is detected. Pass it buccolingually back and forth until the overhang is removed, then use the Copper Narrow Strip to clean and polish the restoration. The strips are very thin and delicate. Apply gentle force, or they may break. These strips are perfect for cleaning overhangs safely, easily, and conveniently.
