In today’s society, everyone is looking for things that work faster and better. Even in dentistry we look for ways to perform our procedures quickly and efficiently. Kerr Corporation has just released a new bonding agent from the Optibond family of adhesives, called All-In-One, that fulfills these requirements, and more. Optibond All-In-One is a single-component, self-etch adhesive that eliminates multiple steps when bonding direct and indirect restorations. Clinicians have everything they need for etching, priming, and bonding in one material. Optibond All-In-One is a light-cured adhesive that provides adhesion to all surfaces and substrates. Its ternary solvent system provides enhanced shelf-life stability and effective enamel etching for long-term bond performance.
According to some independent studies provided by Kerr Corporation, All-In-One self-etch adhesive delivers excellent penetration into dentin tubules, giving you exceptional bond strength and protection against microleakage and post-op sensitivity. Its unique nanoetching capability enables the most effective enamel etching of any single-component adhesive, creating a deeper etched surface for higher mechanical retention and chemical bonding. I have found that the low film thickness makes it easier to seat indirect restorations, creating a better fit. Optibond All-In-One is available in both a 5ml bottle delivery and a convenient freestanding Unidose device.

Case Presentation
A patient presented dissatisfied with the spaces between his anterior maxillary teeth (figure 1). All risks, benefits, and alternatives were reviewed with the patient. He decided he would like to have six anterior veneers from teeth #6–11. When he returned for treatment, we anesthetized the patient and prepared his teeth for Empress (Ivoclar Vivadent) restorations (figure 2). Impressions were taken and temporaries placed. Impressions, a bite registration, and photos were forwarded to the lab for fabrication of the final restorations. Upon his return for the delivery, the temporaries were removed and the preparations cleaned with Preppies paste (figure 3). The restorations were tried in for fit and approved by the patient for esthetics. At this time, the restorations were cleaned and treated with a silanator while the preparations were treated with Optibond All-In-One self-etch adhesive, according to the manufactures’ instructions, and cured for 15 seconds (figure 4). The film thickness of All-In-One adhesive is approximately 5microns after curing, so there was no concern during the seating process (figure 5). The porcelain veneers were loaded with resin cement and placed on the prepared teeth, starting from the midline going outwards (figure 6). The restorations were spot cured and any excess cement was removed. Once complete cleanup was achieved, the restorations were cured from both facial and lingual surfaces for another 10 seconds each. As seen in the postoperative photos immediately after seating, the restorations exhibited a nice aesthetic look and the patient was extremely happy (figures 7 & 8). Also, upon review two weeks later, the patient had no complaints of sensitivity.
As dentists, we are always looking for something that is quick and simple-to-use, yet very effective. Optibond All-In-One self-etch adhesive offers some great benefits, whether you use it as your main adhesive or as an adjunctive bonding agent.
