OP-1, also known as BMP-7, is a member of a class of naturally occurring growth factors called Bone Morphogenetic Proteins. OP-1 Implant is known to induce new bone formation in both developing and mature skeletal systems. Initially discovered in 1965 by Marshal Urist, BMP's are the only known proteins capable of inducing new bone formation. For over 10 years, Stryker Biotech has been specifically dedicated to the research and development of BMP-7.
