| SPECTRA is a handheld, noninvasive
imaging product that,
on a monitor, shows
caries in red, while healthy
tooth enamel is seen in green.
SPECTRA
quickly and reliably identifies
cariogenic bacteria in fissures
and on occlusal surfaces.
SPECTRA detects caries by measuring increased
light-induced fluorescence. Special light intensity
LEDs project high-energy violet-blue
light onto the tooth surface. Light of this wavelength
stimulates porphyrins (metabolites of
cariogenic bacteria) to appear in red, while
healthy enamel fluoresces green. Data
captured by SPECTRA is sent to the computer. With VISIX
imaging software, the image is clearly seen on the monitor.
Images can be captured, stored in patient files, and compared over time. |
