Today, we're talking about some practice management software from Curve Dental.
Now, we've all seen Microsoft Office before. The idea is you have this big program that takes a lot of resources on the computer to run it. And it does a very good job, but it's sort of isolated to that one computer. Plus, you need to back it up. If anything happens to that computer, all your data's gone.
Well, Google Docs comes along. Google Docs runs entirely in your Internet browser. So, if it's Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, whatever you use, you can have the same functionality as Microsoft Office right there in the browser.
Well, Curve Dental, with their practice management software, Hero, did for practice management software what Google Docs did to Microsoft Office. All the functionality you get out of a practice management software, you get this from Curve Dental right in the browser. So, you have perio charting, you can file electronic claims, you can take notes about the patient. All those things are all integrated right there. And the best part is, they're adding new features all the time.
Well, do you have to reinstall anything? You don't have to do anything to get upgrades. It's instantly in your browser, because it's sort of "always on." The great thing here is, you don't have to back anything up. None of the data is stored on your computer. It's all in their servers, and it's backed up on their side. So, there's no headaches there.
And the main thing there is, no server on your side. If you want to install a new workstation in your office, all you have to do is plug it in, open a browser, and you're ready to go. You want to access all your files from home, you just click open your browser, log in to the site, and there you are. You see the same exact functionality.
Now, the one area they were kind of lacking on a little bit was imaging, and they've just recently come out with a couple updates that now allow you to do that. They can take, with a digital x-ray sensor, an image, upload it to their server, do lossless compression on that, redisplay it on your screen in just a second or two. So, it's pretty amazing.
The other thing Curve has available to you is patient education software. These are really crisp, high resolution images, and they have it available to you free. Actually, right now, you can get it. You don't even have to be enrolled into the Curve program at all to get it. And it's a great tool to educate your patients.
