I have often said that I could not practice dentistry, at least adhesive dentistry, without QwikStrips.
I have used the serrated strips from Axis Dental for a long time. They have been updated into a more convenient form: discs rather than strips. Due the the length of the traditional serrated strips, there was always the possibility of cutting the patient’s lip or other facial soft tissue with the strip.
The QwikStrip eliminates these safety concerns by keeping the strips contained within a plastic disc. The discs can be used with a one- or two-hand technique, based on the clinicians preference, and are very convenient. That said, I haven’t thrown by serrated strips away just yet because there are still some rare situations where I really have to saw through a solid contact, and I can generate lots of power with the strips.
However for daily use I prefer the QwikStrips. All the discs are safe-sided and the serrated disc is safe-sided on both sides to avoid opening contacts.
Inter-proximal reduction (IPR) has been one of the most feared procedures in dentistry until the introduction of the QwikStrip IPR System. QwikStrips (QS) offers all of the tools needed for finishing and polishing inter-proximal restorations or for doing IPR with ease and confidence.
With the original single-sided abrasive strips, one can simply finish an interproximal restoration or open up a contact from .07mm to .2mm. Although the original QS can be used in the anterior or posterior, the newly introduced QS curved version follows the contour of the posterior teeth (cuspids through molars), enabling the dentist to maintain the contour while doing IPR. And, to make your IPR case complete, double-sided QS are now available, which allow for the dentist to create space from .2mm to greater than .4mm.
When doing your next IPR case, fear IPR no more! Start by using QS original for the anterior teeth, QS curved for the posterior teeth, and when larger space is called for, use QS double sided abrasive strips. Their depth-limiting design prevents soft tissue irritation, while the handle provides a comfortable grip for optimal tactile control, giving easy access to interproximal spaces.
