Dental Product Review: Isovac from Isolite Systems

In my Maryland dental practice I work hard to provide my patients with the best possible care, and I find using the latest dental technologies helps makes my job far easier and my patients’ experiences far better.

But while the big high tech devices such as CAD/CAM and cone beam get lots of attention, sometimes the little innovations can make a huge impact. I have definitely found this to be the case using the new Isovac isolation and suction adapter from Isolite Systems. With a simple connection to the HVE line in my main operatory I was up and running using the Isolite mouthpieces with just about every patient.

I’ve worked with other Isolite products, but I’ve been very impressed with the simple, elegant design of the Isovac and the ease of cleaning this new adapter after every use. With stronger suction capacity, the Isovac is simply a fantastic product that I think is an improvement on the already great system from Isolite.

Simplicity is a great thing with any new product I bring into my practice, and Isovac was quick and easy to set up, with absolutely no learning curve. It’s something I use every day whether for basic quadrant care or restorative cases. Isovac allows me to have complete control of the working field in terms of both isolation and moisture control. With today’s advanced bonding systems and advanced restorative materials, this level of control makes using them as they were meant to be used far simpler.

The control allowed by the Isovac is just as useful when I’m using my CEREC system to provide same day crowns. With the Isovac in use I know my camera lens will be protected because the patient can’t bite down on it, and the suction means the lens won’t fog up while I’m capturing a digital impression. The mouthpiece even provides a stable finger rest while capturing my digital impressions. When it comes to lasers, the powerful suction means the patients are less likely to notice any odors.

An Isolite mouthpiece is something different than what patients are used to, but I find the reaction to the Isovac from my patients is almost universally positive. We always explain that we can work a lot faster by using Isolite’s products. Patients with gag reflex issues are always hesitant at first, but ironically it ends up working for them better than anyone else. So I’d say that for more challenging patients using Isovac works even better.

The Isovac is simply the best designed product to come from Isolite. It’s simple to use, easy to clean and helps me give my patients the best experience and the best care I can provide. It’s definitely a product I’m happy to recommend to colleagues.
