CAD/CAM Contrast Powder

CAD/CAM contrast powders are used to create an even surface on the teeth being scanned by a digital impression system. The powders are sprayed on the teeth to be scanned and provide a flat, even surface for the scanner that eliminates the reflections that can happen from highly polished or wet tooth surfaces. Some digital impression scanners require contrast powder on the surface being scanned or they cannot capture accurate intraoral scans. Other scanners are capable of capturing a scan without powder, but might be able to capture more accurate results if the teeth have been scanned. If your intraoral scanner requires powder, it is critical for you to keep a steady supply, and even if you use a scanner that does not require contrast powder, it could be useful to have a can or two around just in case.
