Alginate Impression Materials

Alginate impression materials are used to capture a range of dental impressions because when properly used they provide highly detailed impressions. However, because the material does not often provide lasting dimensional stability, alginate impressions must be used to create a model or temporary restoration quickly after the impression is captured. Alginates are packaged in a powdered form and must be mixed before an impression is captured. This makes the product economical and easy to store in a practice.
