The transition from film x-rays to digital imaging in a dental practice can take a number of forms. Some practices swap film for an all digital workflow built around intraoral sensors. Others look to extraoral panoramic or cone beam imaging as they move into digital. For some practices the familiar imaging workflow of phosphor plate systems makes that the attractive path to digital. For those practices, here is a look at the capabilities of some of the phosphor plate systems that output images compatible with the universal DICOM standard which means the images can be used in a number of ways beyond chairside diagnostics.
