Apex locators have become a valuable tool for endodontists and general practitioners who perform root canals. By providing an indication that the apex of a canal has been reached by the file, they help clinicians make sure they clean the entire canal without taking their file too far. Audible signals that the apex has been reached are a standard feature to allow clinicians to keep their view on the canal while working, but having a large, easy to read graphical display of where the file is in relationship to the canal's apex can also be advantageous. Here is a selection of apex locators that provide such a graphical display.
