Desktop Health Receives FDA Approval for Flexcera Base

Desktop Health recently received 510(k) clearance for FlexceraTM Base, a proprietary resin developed for 3D printed dentures.

Flexcera Base and the new FlexceraTM Smile are the company’s first formulated and optimized digital dental solutions, according to a press release.

Flexcera resin offers strength, esthetics, accuracy and speed, making it possible to deliver high-quality dental prosthetics same day.

Flexcera combines the strength of ceramic with long chain chemistry for optimal denture properties. When used with EnvisionTEC™ 3D printers, dental providers can print up to eight customized Flexcera dentures in less than two hours.

The resin, developed, tested and selected from more than 200 formulations, is said to be three times more resistant to fracture than select competitive resins. Its moisture resistance prevents staining or discoloration, while the resin’s overall natural esthetic offers lifelike tooth translucency and a natural-looking smile.

Flexcera is expected to launch commercially in the U.S. and Canada by the end of June.
