MedTech Breakthrough Recognizes Align with Best Virtual Care Platform Award

Align Technology’s Invisalign® Virtual Care recently won the “Best Virtual Care Platform” award from MedTech Breakthrough. The solution enables remote communication between Invisalign doctors and their patients to track treatment progress.

MedTech Breakthrough is an independent market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies, technologies and products in the global health and medical technology market, according to a press release. This marks the fifth year for the award.

In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, doctors had to piece through video calls, texts and patient submitted photos from a variety of platforms to monitor patient progress with their clear aligners, reduce the need for in-office appointments and ensure continuity of patient care. To make this easier, Align released new digital tools, including the Invisalign Virtual Care and Invisalign Virtual Appointment, that are built into the My Invisalign App.

Invisalign Virtual Care can be used for remote consultations, treatment progress assessment, and to communicate adjustments or concerns during treatment. Through the My Invisalign App, patients stay engaged in their treatment. They have the ability to send progress photos to their doctor, who reviews them on the Invisalign Doctor Site. From there, the doctor communicates instructions.

The MedTech Breakthrough Awards honor excellence and success in a range of health and medical technology categories, including robotics, clinical administration, telehealth, patient engagement, electronic health Records (EHR), mHealth, medical devices, medical data and others. This year’s program attracted more than 3,850 nominations from 17 different countries.

“Invisalign Virtual Care provides Invisalign patients with seamless, personalized experiences that improve the customer experience, while also enabling revenue growth for doctors,” said James Johnson, managing director, MedTech Breakthrough, according to the release. “It is clear that responsible virtual care represents a significant component of health care moving forward and Align is a leading innovator in this space.”
