Virginia Head & Neck Therapeutics recently introduced the Voutia™ oral hydration system for chronic dry mouth sufferers. The FDA-cleared system was beta tested for more than three years.
The system provides continuous, on-demand non-pharmaceutical relief for chronic dry mouth, according to the company website. The hands-free system uses a quiet micro-pump and ultra-fine tubing to deliver a slow, controlled flow of fluid directly to the mouth.
The discrete system, which is slightly larger than a smartphone, mimics salivary moisture so patients can live their lives while the device delivers hydration to their mouth. Patients can attach the portable device to their hip or place it in a shoulder bag.
Voutia has adjustable settings to meet patients’ specific needs over the course of the day, allowing for maximum comfort. The system features a rechargeable battery with extended life for six to eight hours of continuous use day or night.
