BEGO, SprintRay Announce Materials Integration Partnership

Through a new materials integration partnership, BEGO’s VarseoSmile Crown plus and VarseoSmile Temp materials can now be used with the SprintRay Pro line of 3D dental printers, starting with the U.S. market.

This materials validation gives all SprintRay Pro users the ability to rapidly 3D-print temporary and permanent restorations at a low cost, creating an enhanced patient experience, according to a press release.

The companies have completed a joint validation project to confirm the performance, accuracy and biocompatibility of the two materials integrated into the SprintRay workflow. This includes the Pro 55 and Pro 95 3D printers and the Pro Cure post-processing unit.

BEGO VarseoSmile Crown plus, a tooth-colored, ceramic-filled hybrid material, and SprintRay Pro will make it possible for dental professionals to 3D print definitive restorations such as crowns, inlays, onlays and veneers. VarseoSmile Crown plus features mechanical properties similar to traditional crown materials. When used with efficient 3D printing workflows, patients can receive same-day crowns 3D printed by their dentist.

The partnership comes at a time when 3D printing “penetration in the dental market is exploding, giving dental professionals access to rapid, customizable manufacturing methods.” The expansion into the market for crowns also represents a huge growth area for SprintRay and BEGO.
