Align Technology Introduces Invisalign G8 with SmartForce Aligner Activation

Align Technology recently launched Invisalign G8 with SmartForce Aligner Activation.

With the company’s latest biomechanics innovation, select areas of the aligner surface are specifically contoured to apply optimal forces to tooth surfaces, according to a press release. This controls the location, direction and intensity of the force, producing the desired outcome and minimizing unwanted movement.

Specific, strategic contact areas between the aligner and the tooth are created by SmartForce Aligner Activation and work with SmartForce features for greater control of the force systems.

This advancement is informed by the company’s foundational biomechanics for clear aligners. Align has a database of more than 9 million Invisalign patients to optimize tooth movements and improve predictability for frequently treated crowding, crossbite and deep bite cases. These cases help define the optimal approach to specific tooth movements and case types. Combined with the company’s SmartTrack material and SmartStage technology, this leads to more efficient treatment planning and enhanced predictability.

The software automatically determines when case types require additional activation for the desired tooth movement, which is then fabricated into the aligner as SmartForce Aligner Activation. This reduces the risk of over-correcting certain movements in treatment plans.

Invisalign G8 will be available globally on all Invisalign products in the first quarter of 2021.
