Carestream Dental Donates Intraoral Sensors to Mercy Ships

Carestream Dental recently donated six RVG 6200 sensors, as well as software and support, to Mercy Ships, a faith-based global organization that provides surgical care to those in need.

The sensors will be used to outfit the organization’s newest ship, the Global Mercy, according to a press release. The world’s largest NGO hospital ship’s maiden voyage will be to Africa in 2021.

The custom-built hospital ship will feature customized instruments, advanced technology and a highly trained staff consisting of 600 medical and dental health care workers. It will provide a safe, clean surgical environment to various African nations. There is also educational space to train local doctors on the latest techniques and best practices.

The ship is expected to see 150,000 patients during its estimated lifespan of 50 years.

The RVG 6200 sensors will support the onshore dental clinic. The sensors have several user-defined imaging processing tools, allowing volunteers to customize images to their specifications.
