The HuFriedyGroup recently introduced the Harmony Ergonomic Scaler as part of its new line of Harmony Ergonomic Scalers and Curettes with TrueFit Technology.
The scaler is designed to provide proven ergonomic benefits for dental professionals, according to a press release. During the design process, a sensor-based testing system measured pinch force in the finger and pressure applied to the tooth when scaling. After more than 2.8 million data points were recorded, researchers and engineers used TrueFit Technology to develop a scaler handle with optimal proportions and width, allowing for a secure and nimble grasp.
A broad group of hygienists participated in the testing and development process. A third-party analytics firm reviewed the 2.8 million data points collected.
The scaler’s handle is said to reduce pinch force up to 65 percent compared to other leading designs, reducing the amount of pressure that needs to be applied during use. This can help alleviate hand fatigue and reduce injury risk.
The scalers also reduce pressure against the tooth surface by up to 37 percent when compared with other brands, enhancing patient comfort and reducing clinician fatigue.
The durable metal handle that features a recessed-double helix texture offers optimal tactile sensitivity and reduced tactile fatigue. The comfortable silicone grip has been extended by 30 percent and provides a secure, nimble grip in any direction. The round handle shape and smooth transition to the functional shank makes it easy to comfortably maneuver and roll the scaler.
The scaler is available with 30 different working end options, including Sickles, Universals and Graceys.
