Shofu Dental Corp. Marks 20th Anniversary of Bioactive GIOMER Technology

Shofu Dental Corporation is celebrating an important milestone: the 20th anniversary of releasing its bioactive GIOMER Technology.

Products containing this proprietary technology, which features a specially engineered filler particle, offer long-term bioactive and therapeutic properties, according to a press release. These properties include anti-bacterial/anti-plaque effect, acid neutralization, and fluoride release and recharge.

An independent eight-year research study of the material displayed a 100% retention rate, intact esthetics, no secondary caries, no failures, and no post-operative sensitivity.

“After two decades, we are pleased to see the increased acceptance from the dental community of bioactive and therapeutic restorative materials to support the oral and systemic health of patients,” Shofu President Randy Bailey said, according to the release. “We anticipate this trend will continue.”

Bioactive GIOMER Technology is available in the company’s line of Beautifil products: universal composite (Beautifil II and Beautifil II LS), flowable composite (Beautifil Flow Plus, Beautifil Flow Plus X, and Fit SA), resin cement (BeautiCem), and sealant (BeautiSealant).
