Sulzer Mixpac Works to Protect Candy Color Trademarks

Sulzer Mixpac is working to protect its Candy Color Trademarks, which are made in Switzerland in a modern factory with high-quality materials, equipment and processes.

The company has used six Candy Colors (yellow, teal, blue, pink, purple and brown) for its MIXPAC mixing tips for more than 20 years, and are warning customers of counterfeit products being made in China, Korea and India, according to a press release.

Mixpac has U.S. Trademark registrations for its Candy Colors for mixing tips and accessories including cartridge caps and intraoral tips.

The counterfeits often look similar to Mixpac because they copy the Candy Colors, but using these products can lead to inconsistent or inhomogeneous mixing, contamination of mixing material, and/or faulty procedures. Sulzer Mixpac uses a “LOOK FOR the CANDY COLORS” Trademark message. Only genuine mixing tips have MIXPAC stamped on the top edge of the dome.

US Customs recently seized and destroyed hundreds of thousands of counterfeit mixing tips from several shipments. Importers should know that not only may a counterfeit shipment be seized and destroyed, but fines and penalties also may apply.

To further ensure products dentists buy are genuine, the company polices online sales of mixing tips and accessories. If a seller uses Mixpac’s name or Candy Colors to try to mislead dentists to buy counterfeit products, Sulzer Mixpac takes down the listing.

Sulzer Mixpac also continues to defend their mixing tip products in court. In more than 25 cases, the company has gained judgments or permanent injunctions that prohibit selling of counterfeit products.
