New Dental Product: Portable Intraoral Scanner from Dental Wings

Dental Wings recently introduced the new Portable Intraoral Scanner.

The scanner features the same performance as the company’s original Intraoral Scanner but in a smaller, portable form factor, according to a press release. It is well suited for practices with limited space or multiple operatories.

The portable scanner features the same Multiscan Imaging technology as the original cart version. The five miniaturized 3D scanners in the handpiece tip directly view the teeth and soft tissue from multiple orientations at the same time. This makes it possible to capture even the most difficult to see areas with minimal effort. The lightweight, all-metal handpiece has no moving parts, complex illumination or cooling system to maintain.

The scanner offers open workflows for tooth-borne and implant-borne restorations, removable prosthetics and orthodontic cases.

The DWOS Connect communication platform makes connectivity between dental clinics and laboratories seamless, while open export of STL file format allows dentists immediate access to the scan data for chairside production or to collaborate with laboratory partners when the patient is still in the chair. Clinicians who use the Dental Wings DWOS CAD suite of design applications, as well as other open dental CAD software, can directly import scan data.

The small handpiece is designed for patient comfort and allows dentists to assume a natural position when scanning. Gesture recognition technology for infection control allows for touch-free operation, while review tools provide essential real-time evaluation of the clinical situation.
