BIOLASE recently released Epic Pro, a diode laser that is the first product resulting from the company’s strategic agreement with IPG Photonics.
The Epic Pro features a new super pulse technology for more precise laser tissue cutting, according to a press release, as well as real-time automatic power control to enhance speed and consistency during surgery. The pre-initiated, bendable disposable tips feature new smart tip technology to ensure performance and quality.
The diode laser is designed to provide more predictable, minimally invasive solutions for soft tissue management. It is undergoing product notification by the FDA for dental/surgical operations, intended for use in contact and non-contact techniques for incision, excision, vaporization, ablation, hemostasis, or coagulation of intraoral and extraoral soft tissue (including marginal and interdental gingiva and epithelial lining of free gingiva). It is not yet available in the United States.
