A brighter experience at the dental office for 75,000 patients thanks to a Denver startup.
Denver, CO - Lumed Science Inc. announced today announced two major milestones: LEAP™ light technology has helped treat over 75,000 dental patients and the launch of their upgraded design, LEAP™ 2100.
The LEAP™ (Light Emitting Access Prop) technology is currently used by over 700 dental practices to treat 75,000+ patients, in the last year alone! LEAP’s growth was fueled by the industry’s top dentists and innovative distributors throughout the U.S. and Canada. Additionally, LEAP is used by four major U.S. universities in teaching their students how best to light the patient’s mouth.
The newly released LEAP™2100 upgrades the LED technology which is integrated into an enhanced shape that improves patient comfort and position in the mouth, creating a comfortable and worry free experience for both the doctor and patient.
LEAP™ technology has improved dental lighting by placing light where it is needed most-- inside the patient’s mouth. This integration allows the dentist to work without worry of blocking the light, stopping to readjust or blinding the patient with the overhead light. The technology integrates high intensity LEDs sealed into an eloquently engineered silicone bite block that provides patient comfort and great access for the doctor. LEAP™ is the world’s first dental light to be entirely sterilized in an autoclave before use. This prevents cross contamination, which is a major concern with alternative dental lighting systems.
“We are proud to continue innovating in the dental industry and thrilled about the great reception we have received from dentists throughout the U.S.” said a beaming co-founder and CEO Michael Bojanowski. “We have worked with some remarkable dentists over the past year who love the LEAP technology and have provided feedback that we have integrated into the new LEAP™ 2100 model.”
“We have been using the LEAP™ device in our office since it first came onto the market in 2015. We have always used bite blocks during dental procedures to help with patients comfort and to help keep an open, accessible field to work in. The idea of using a bite block that had LED lighting in it just made a lot of sense.” commented Dr. Phil Johnson, Dentist and CTO of Lumed, on development of the LEAP device. “We have been anxiously awaiting the release of the new and improved model, the LEAP 2100.”
LEAP™ is completely manufactured in the U.S (Colorado and California), with all design and development-taking place in the Denver, Colorado. Lumed also expects to have registration to sell in the European Union in Q1 of next year and Japan by Q2 of 2017.
