CHICAGO – Hu-Friedy, a global leader in the manufacturing of dental instruments and products, today announces the newest addition to the Hu-Friedy EMS air polishing line, the AIR-FLOW® Handy 3.0 PREMIUM.
This portable unit gives clinicians the best of both worlds by providing an effective method for both supra and subgingival biofilm and stain removal, and is simply connected to the dental unit.
AIR-FLOW Therapy is different than other well-known air polishing systems and offers benefits to both the clinician and patient that are difficult to replicate with other procedures. For instance, AIR-FLOW Therapy, along with AIR-FLOW PERIO Powder, is safe for tissue, enamel, root surfaces, ortho brackets, porcelain composite restorations, and even implants & implant abutments. It’s also more comfortable and less messy than standard air polishers.

Designed to be used specifically with the unique Hu-Friedy EMS AIR-FLOW PERIO powder (made from glycine), the Handy 3.0 PREMIUM has the versatility to easily, efficiently and effectively remove harmful biofilm from both supragingival and subgingival areas of the tooth. It includes two handpiece attachments for supragingival (PLUS) and subgingival (PERIO) applications with one Handy unit. For supragingival cleaning, the PLUS handpiece is used on the tooth’s surface to remove biofilm and light stain. For shallow subgingival cleaning, the PLUS handpiece is directed at the sulcus to quickly clean all biofilm up to 4mm. For site-specific subgingival cleaning, the PERIO handpiece is used with the PERIO-FLOW disposable nozzles for cleaning of deeper pockets.
