New Dental Product: 3.2-mm-Diameter Inclusive Tapered Implant from Glidewell Dental

Glidewell Dental recently released the 3.2-mm-diameter Inclusive Tapered Implant, expanding the company’s tapered implant offerings.

The new implant size incorporates a narrow-diameter apex and was designed to ease positioning in areas of limited anatomical space, such as upper lateral incisors, lower incisors and narrow ridges, according to a press release. It includes a 3.0 mm prosthetic platform, which is designed to increase soft tissue thickness at the abutment-implant connection. This can facilitate crestal bone preservation. The implant also features an internally hexed conical connection, making it compatible with popular prosthetic components and instrumentation.

The deep conical interface is said to encourage lateral strength, while the implant’s coronal micro-threads increase the surface area available for bone-to-implant contact at the crest of the ridge. The implant also features a tapered body and buttress threads, which are designed to engage and gently compress the bone. This reportedly increases stability and helps with osseointegration.

With the addition, Inclusive Tapered Implants are now available in 3.2 mm, 3.7 mm, 4.2 mm, 4.7 mm and 5.2 mm diameters.

Glidewell also released a new surgical kit that is redesigned for enhanced simplicity and durability. It’s also expanded to accommodate the full range of Inclusive Tapered Implants.
