Antibe Therapeutics recently introduced PentOS OI Putty, the first in a family of new bone graft substitutes. The three other products, PentOS OI Flex, PentOS OI Sponge and PentOS OI Fill, are expected to launch in the coming months.
PentOS OI Putty is a demineralized bone matrix made from 100 percent human bone, according to a press release, and does not contain any extrinsic carriers. All grafts are verified for osteo-inductivity before distribution, ensuring each graft facilitates bone formation.
According to independent in vivo testing post-sterilization, PentOS OI grafts demonstrate all five elements of bone formation, which are chondrocytes, osteocytes, bone marrow cells, cartilage, and new bone. In vitro tests demonstrate levels of bone morphogenetic protein-2 up to 19 times the control levels.
